To be considered, you'll need either:

A literary agent or a traditional publishing contract, or

A strong, established platform ~ a real audience that will move books (engaged email list, media reach, speaking, or following).
I don't work for royalties alone. A royalty share, when it's part of a deal, sits on top of a base fee ~ never instead of one. The writing gets paid for whether or not the book sells.

Payment Structure
Your investment is divided into four installments across the life of the project, so cost always tracks progress and you know exactly what each payment delivers.

Installment 1 — 30%, due at signing. This reserves your place on my calendar and begins the work: discovery interviews, research, voice study, and a complete chapter-by-chapter outline for your approval. Nothing gets written until we both agree on the blueprint.

Installment 2 — at outline approval. Greenlights the drafting phase, where your material becomes full chapters.

Installment 3 — at first-draft delivery. Due when the complete manuscript is in your hands for review.

Installment 4 — at completion. Due when revisions are finished and the final, polished manuscript is delivered.

The remaining 70% is divided across Installments 2 through 4. Exact percentages are flexible and set in your contract.
Timeline. Most books take three to five months to write. The full collaboration, from discovery through final revisions, typically takes four to ten months. Two things set the pace, and both are largely in your hands: your subject-matter experts' availability for interviews, and how quickly and cleanly you return edits at each round. Clients who turn revisions around promptly and decisively finish sooner.
Every figure here is a starting point. Final amounts, milestones, and schedule are negotiated and documented in your contract.
